Real Steel!

First time joining movie premier screening last night. Won tickets from Twitter to watch REAL STEEL at Pavilion!

Special thanks to Tunetalk and Blupblup for giving my family and I a precious time watching this awesome movie together. And because of this, we got to watch Real Steel a few days earlier before the actual releasing date in Malaysia.

A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near future [the year 2020], where the sport of boxing has gone hi-tech, “Real Steel” stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.

Real Steel will star Jackman, Evangeline Lilly, Kevin Durand, Anthony Mackie, Hope Davis, and child actor Dakota Goyo. Shawn Levy (Date Night) is directing the film, which was inspired by the short story “Steel” from author Richard Matheson (I Am Legend).

Personal review:
I thought this movie would be like another TRANSFORMERS movie, metals fighting against metal. But it wasn't! This movie is beyond my expectation! It was surprisingly good. It is a simple film, with simple concepts, supported by good action, solid acting and timeless themes. For me, I think the little kid named Max in the movie performed the best throughout the movie. His eyes are so dazzling and he's very expressive. Cute and adorable. This movie is actually about people using hi-tech robots for boxing in the near future [the year 2020]. Charlie a.k.a the main character didn't care about his son, Max after Max was born because he attempts to get money in illegal boxing matches between robots to pay his debts to loan sharks. After he had the chance to meet Max again, their relationship starts to become closer because they had a great time together to join the robot boxing competitions. The Real Steel technical crew concocted nineteen life-sized Animatronic metal bots for Jackman and his fellow performers to interact with. If you think the movie is all about boxing and fighting, then you're wrong. This movie contains love, courage, confidence and faith. Definitely a good movie to watch!!
