Recipe: Strawberry & Banana Smoothie Parfait

Hey bunnies! Thanks to the long break, I have all the time in a day to look into my daily cravings, stare at recipes online, and decide on which to put into experiment and which to just forget about.

Glory to Internet Almighty, I found myself already staring at a lengthy list of recipes by the tap of a few buttons. Salads, strawberry tarts, mashed potatoes, yoghurt smoothies...the list seems endless. It is amusing to have realised how oblivious I was to the fact that there are actually so many kinds of treats which we can pamper ourselves with at home. While we can enjoy the fun of baking or cooking, we can also save ourselves the trip to a dessert shop far far away, which......WAIT.

MASHED POTATOES. Did anyone just say mashed potatoes?

*eyes sparkle like diamond*

Alright I'll leave my awesome mashed potatoes for next time. I actually did manage to cook myself a good bowl of mashed potatoes, and I'm pretty satisfied with the results of my first trial. Before digging in, I wanted to take a photo, but when I clicked the "snap" button... I already had the entire bowl licked clean before the camera shutter actually shuts hahaha!

Soooo as for now, let me introduce to you a really simple, yet sinfully tantalising confection..!

Taadaa~ The Yoghurt Smoothie Parfait!!

Simple, delicious, and most importantly, HEALTHY! Just who doesn't give a damn about staying healthy these days? For those of you who are already tired of weighing every dish of food for their sins, here's something you can feel free to mindlessly devour.

Comprising of fresh fruits, cereals, muesli, low-fat milk and yoghurt, this can definitely pass as a highly customisable treat. Buy a box of muesli, pick your favourite fruits, select the cereal you love, throw in some yoghurt, uncap the carton of milk and hold it upside down above the jar...

and you are already done! :D

Okay who am I kidding. Here's how I made my jar of Strawberry & Banana Smoothie!
Brace yourself. The steps are unimaginably DIFFICULT and MIND-WRENCHING. (not... :p)

- 1/2 cup milk (I used low-fat milk)
- Frozen strawberries
- 1 banana
- 2 tbs of Greek yogurt
- Muesli
- Cereals (optional)

Let's begin!

1. Clean the fruits!

2. Cut the leaves off the strawberries and peel the banana.

3. Cut the banana into pieces of the approximately equal size.

4. Throw the fruits into the blender, then add 1/2 cup of milk to the party!

5. Next, add two scoops of Greek yoghurt into the mixture.

6. Then? Blend everything of course!
You may also add some ice cubes if you would like your smoothie to be served chilled.

7. Think of how you would want your smoothie to look like, then do the pouring accordingly.

8. Stick to your plan, add the constituents!
I wanted to give my smoothie some layers, so I added a coat of chocolate-rice cereals at about the 1/4 mark of the jar.

9. Decide on the final (uppermost) layer!
You might not want to make a slapdash out of this step - the final layer will make up a big part of the overall appearance of the smoothie. I chose the muesli (of course) simply because I suppose there isn't anything else better than it!!!

10. Finish off by adding two little cute strawberries on top of your smoothie!

I'm so excited to check out your recreations!! So if you'd made yourself one, don't forget to take a picture of it and send it to me in Twitter @JessicaChaw so that I can RT them! Looking forward to receiving all your pictures!!

Wishing all of you happy holidays and love ya!
