#JESSICAINTOKYO | DAY 5 | PART 2: UENO

DAY 5: PART II (20TH MAY 2015)

After visiting Sensoji temple in Asakusa, we headed to Ueno!

Ueno is the home to many Japanese cultural institutions, including the Tokyo National Museum, National Museum of Western Arts, Ueno Zoo, etc. Besides, it also houses a huge street market called Ameyoko market, which has a plenty of restaurants and shops. If you're wondering where to buy famous Japanese snacks at LOW PRICES, this is the place that you wouldn't wanna miss!

When I say "low price", I really mean it! There's a huge shop which sells all kinds of snacks at much cheaper prices compared to the markets in the other cities. I spent a lot buying the snacks as souvenirs for my friends and family hahaha!

This is just a tiny part from my "snacks" haul! I should have taken a picture of all the snacks I bought, but it's too late now because I have given most of them to my friends haha!

Kitkat was sold for only RM9 per pack, which was really cheap!! And Jagabee was only RM4 for a jumbo packet!! Besides, some (really good) green tea drinks were only sold for 90cents per bottle wtf. That place is seriously a heaven for all snacks lovers!!

I forgot the name of the shop and even forgot to take a picture of its storefront WTF...T_T I was also not allowed to take pictures inside the shop, so I couldn't show you how big the shop is. So I'm so sorry I couldn't give you the exact location about the shop. :(

After shopping for hours in the snacks shop, we decided to visit the Ueno Park!

Ueno Park was such a delight. The scene opened up before me like a pop-up storybook - greenish maple trees giving way to a beautiful fountain in front of the national museum. It's hard to not find this place lovely - really. This place has a special kind of force that could enliven any spirit.

Also, I realised that I actually prefer exploring all the beautiful parks and shrines instead of shopping every day throughout my trip in Tokyo.

In the park, we sat by the fountain and had a great, long conversation until the sky gradually turned dark. Being in the park, you can feel as if the chilly winds are liberating your soul from the worries and stresses back whence you came. I've never had the pleasure of taking a ramble in a park bearing no pressure to leave or attend to other matters, and I couldn't be anymore grateful to have visited the Ueno Park. This visit simply made the entire trip all the more worthwhile.

Maybe in my humble words it might not be the most exciting adventure you have heard about, but I'm not gonna lie - I had the time of my life here.
