GOURMET LUNCH IN CANTALOUPE, TROIKA

Spending the last few days of 2015 with my loved ones made me happy.

Jxhia and I decided to treat ourselves a rather fancy year-end lunch in Cantaloupe, Troika.

I had an amazing time accompanied by exquisite delicacies and good company - I really couldn't ask for more. In fact, I think Cantaloupe is, hands down, the BEST fine-dining restaurant in my personal experience. I love everything about this restaurant - the relaxing ambiance, the delicate dishes and the superb service.

I like how the interior is - minimalistic and classy.

We went for The Express Gourmet, whereby the dishes were already pre-selected by the chef.

Cold green pea soup was first served as one of the appetisers. The first sip felt weird - it tasted very vegetable (well I guess it's called a green pea soup for a reason). But it started to taste yummy after the first few sips! The smoked eel pieces tasted surprisingly good with the green pea soup!!

Second appetiser - grilled leek with hazelnuts and saffron vinaigrette - you can never imagine its taste until you've tried it yourself. It was i.m.p.r.e.s.s.i.v.e!

Third appetiser - Goat's Curd, with sesame seed, radish, nori and eggplant - not really a big fan of this but it's indeed a very special combination!

Ginger and lemon granite, bergamot espuma

Basically it's a lemon sorbet which refreshes and prepares your palate for the upcoming dishes - the mains!

Lobster served with deep fried brioche, espelette pepper and celery.
Absolutely well done, but the portion is - regrettably - too mini! T_T

Smoked chicken with roasted carrot, barley salad and ricotta. (finally something in a slightly larger portion lol)
The meat was firm with a subtle hint of smokiness!! Who would have ever thought that the combination of chicken, barley and ricotta would be this good?!?

After the mains, two desserts were served. The first one was the dried brioche stuffed with vanilla mille-feuille.

Crème brûlée with speculoos crumbles, frozen vanilla mousse, and milk ice-cream.
This one is a one way ticket to heaven...I WANT MORE.

After meal - long black coffee for Jxhia.

Earl grey tea for me, as usual.

On me: Embellished Shift Dress from Wardrobemess / Bag from Givenchy / Boots from Topshop

Every dish came to us as a surprise as each and everyone of them was really unique, which is a no wonder as they are specially curated by the master chef in Cantaloupe. Once again, in this very same place, I was charmed to the very core of my heart. T__T

I would strongly recommend this place if you are looking for a fancy restaurant for your anniversary dinners / birthdays / any other special occasions. #notsponsored

Anyway, happy 2016 to y'all!

  2. I still can't get over this great place I recently visited! This isn't only a good place. It is also one of the best around here. There isn't a listing of the unique offerings, although there should be! This Chicago event space was magnificent!
